... and brownies! On 9 January, darling baby Milo turned 1 - a whole year old! Where did the time go? Milo pretty much smiled his way through the year, and at the milestone age of one is hell-bent on learning to walk even though he's a speeding machine on all fours, knows how to get off the bed on his own (thanks to Daddy teaching him to go backwards), loves his sister to bits, loves music, still nurses and reminds us everyday just how lucky we are to have such a beautiful family!
Daniel and Milo, on his birthday; Maia (aka Snow White) having her way with the sprinkes
To celebrate, I made my first ever brownies from scratch (no cake mix has entered my Bogor kitchen to date) and goodness gracious me, I had NO idea how much sugar, eggs, and butter go into brownies! All you weight watchers out there, stop that hand in mid-air the next time you reach over for one. There's a double dose of everything in that fudgy square taste of heaven! I had to use half brown sugar and half whole wheat flour in the recipe to reduce the guilt factor... And then closed my eyes as I let Maia throw sprinkles all over the cream chocolate frosting (it was a birthday after all!!!).
We kept the celebration very quiet - just us and the rest of our household - and it was excactly how we wanted it. It was a time to be grateful for having Milo in our lives, to be a family and to see where life takes us together. A happy and prosperous new year to all!
